Japanese maple grove in celadon pot - starter bonsai

Nine Japanese maple (Acer palmatum) seedlings in their second year from seed.

These seedlings were selected after their first year of growth for dwarf characteristics including shortened internodes (see link below from my wholesaler). They are well-suited for bonsai.

All trees were root-pruned in late winter to remove taproots and encourage lateral rooting. Planted in 1:1 akadama:lava for high porosity and drainage.

Tallest tree is 14" from container mix to shoot tip. Pot is 10" wide x 6" deep x 2.5" tall.

Perfect for a semi-shaded patio; can be brought indoors temporarily for enjoyment.

I am also selling more seedlings individually in 3” pots; please message me for more information about these.

Sun requirement: Partial shade
Care instructions: Part shade. This has been grown under 60% shade for the past two months, and should continue to be cultivated outdoors under part shade through October. Will happily take full November-March sun. Frost hardy. Fertilizer regularly, all-purpose fertilizer, 1/2-1/4 strength. I use a fish emulsion-kelp blend. Requires water every 1-2 days during hot, dry weather. Happy to provide more care instructions upon request, including transplanting and wiring advice.
