Papaver somniferum var. laciniatum - heirloom pompom poppy seed

1/2 gram of seed per packet; fresh seed

This beautiful, pink heirloom poppy (common names breadseed poppy or opium poppy) easily grows to over 4 feet tall and remains rather narrow, at 2 feet or so. At well over 4 inches across, these flowers are absolute garden highlights. Seed pods are very ornamental, as well, and make wonderful additions to dry flower arrangements.

Annual.

Edible seeds.

I've grown this selection for three generations, collecting my seed and saving it each time, dry in the refrigerator. This is a very hardy plant.

Sun requirement: Full sun
Care instructions: Surface sow to sunny, outdoor location. Keep moist until seedlings established. Thrives on low water once established.
